Relying on outstanding blasting talents, advanced blasting design concept, accurate blasting technology, perfect quality & safety management system as well as rich experience in construction organization, China Railway No.3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. has successively made a number of major scientific & technological achievements, including technologies relating to railway (highway) cutting blasting, permafrost blasting, large-scale stone controlled blasting, stone cutting chamber & pre-splitting one-time comprehensive blasting, demolition controlled blasting of urban buildings as well as micro-vibration controlled blasting technology of digital electronic detonator adjacent to intermediate pressure gas line. The blasting technology of China Railway No.3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. has been in the forefront of the industry, while the digital electronic detonator-controlled blasting technology under the complicated conditions filled the gap in the industry.
In the 90s of last century, China Railway No.3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. took the lead in studying the pre-splitting blasting & vibration insulation tank technology & solved the problems of blasting construction control in large stone cuttings in complicated environment. It also completed a pull trough-controlled blasting of a 450m large stone cutting with the blasting volume of around 110,000m³, hence minimizing the impact of blasting vibration on the surrounding buildings. Having reached the domestic leading level at that time, this technology won the Third Prize of the Former Ministry of Railways for Scientific & Technological Progress & the First Prize of Qingdao for Scientific & Technological Progress.
In 1992, China Railway No.3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. conducted research & practice in the dismantling construction of non-metallic oil tanks & the directional demolition blasting of reinforced concrete chimneys. The formed research & application results of the blasting technology have won the first prize of China Society of Explosives & Blasting for Scientific & Technological Progress of & Blasting & the second prize of Shanxi Province for Scientific & Technological Progress.
In 2001, China Railway No.3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. initially studied the combined blasting method of chamber & pre-splitting one-time blasting + cutting pre-splitting blasting, successfully made the new attempt to implement the construction method of highway cutting blasting, effectively increased the crushing degree of blasted rocks & reached the goal of one-time shaping. The research results won the first prize of China Society of Explosives & Blasting for Scientific & Technological Progress. They were also rated as national construction methods. This technology was successively applied to the cutting construction of Guiyang-Xinzhai Expressway, including 161 pre-split holes designed, total 2,212.4m long boreholes & 13.72t one-time total explosive load. After the blasting, the site was beautiful & left a reputation of "Awesome Blade", which was well-known both inside & outside the industry. This technology has provided reference for the blasting construction of hard rock cutting.
In 2003, in order to achieve the innovation & make a breakthrough in excavation blasting technology in permafrost region of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, China Railway No.3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. used the blasting construction technology mainly based on shallow & deep hole blasting as well as loose blasting under the premise of freezing, which ensured fast closure & reduced blast disturbances in blasting areas, effectively protected the ecological environment & improved blasting effect, solved the problems of fragile ecological environment in the permafrost region, scarce surface vegetation in the frozen soil, low plateau anoxic mechanical & artificial efficiency, difficulty in blasting boreholes & other problems, provided strong technical support for the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway through the world's most complicated plateau permafrost region & achieved major innovations & breakthroughs in blasting technology for plateau permafrost. The research results have won the third prize of China Railway Society for Technological Innovation, while the construction technology of the plateau railway has reached the world's leading level.
In 2013, the digital electronic detonator shallow-hole & large-diameter controlled blasting technology, developed under the instruction of China Railway No.3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., filled the gap of the prohibition of blasting in 50m range of domestic proximity intermediate pressure gas pipes. It developed 1 provincial construction method & 1 utility model patent. It research results reached the international advanced level & successively won the first prize of China Railway Corporation for Scientific & Technological Progress & the second prize of China Society of Explosives & Blasting for Scientific & Technological Progress. The research achievements were successfully applied to the blasting of 1.6Mpa proximity intermediate pressure gas pipe (12m) in the underground section of Fuyong Station & Fuyong Station to Qiaotou Station of Shenzhen Metro Line 11, ensuring safe construction & construction term. Compared to static blasting, it saved RMB 6.19 million, generating obvious economic benefits.
